For Easter this year, we travelled to Bedford, Indiana (home of my grandmothers and aunt's family). We did amazingly well on the trip up and back this time around. The four hour journey wasn't as bad as it was last time with Sam in tow. Thank goodness for naps and a portable DVD player! Here are some shots from the weekend....
Everyone humored me with my want and desire to color Easter eggs this year. Even though Sam is still too young, I thought it could be fun (for me if nothing else). I did try to find the least "messy" coloring kit. We did well, to err on the side of caution, Sam's shirt came off prior to getting started.
Sam REALLY wanted to grab the eggs and check them out first hand. That was a mistake...as soon as he got a free hand, he crushed the hard boiled egg right then and there. Picture taking was officially over at that point.
A staple around our house at Easter time are Peeps. We love them! We figured it was time that Sam try them too. Seems that he enjoys them just as much as we do. I did learn the trick is to take the Peep out of your baby's hand before it gets too melty and gooey. It wasn't a lot of fun trying to pry the mess out of his hands.
We had an Easter egg "hunt" on Saturday for Sam. He is the only little one, so he had the run of the yard. He did really good seeking the eggs. Once he figured out there was something in he egg, he decided he MUST open each and every one of them right then and there (thank goodness there were only 12 or we would still be there).
Notice Sam's Easter basket....I made it especially for him. My mom made baskets for David and I when we were little (I actually still have mine). It was always fun to pull out the same basket each Easter. I decided to make the same effort for my little guy. I think it turned out pretty good, not too girly I hope!
I don't know if I'll ever understand this boy's obsession with putting everything in his mouth.
Putting our cake decorating class to good use, mom and I baked and decorated Grandma's birthday cake for her (she loves butterflies).
Checking out his Easter basket Sunday morning before church.
Sam was over the pictures at this point in the morning.

Ya'll look nice for Easter. Sam looks so cute! You did a great job on the b-day cake, Tracy. I'm impressed with all of the projects you've tackled-especially dyeing eggs with a little toddler! Abbie puts everything in her mouth too-don't worry it shall pass!!
