I don't know what possessed us to try an actual family vacation while Sam is only 9 months, but we did--and I'm thrilled we did! The family (and some of our best buds) travelled to Destin, Florida. Our friends stayed only a few nights and Chris and I (and Sam) stayed the rest of the week. All week long....watching the weather every chance we got, praying that Tropical Storm Faye would turn the other way and not ruin our vacation! We were very fortunate that we had awesome weather all week long and the storm did not affect us at all. We just left town a couple hours than what we were originally planning.
The thing we dreaded most was traveling 7-8 hours in a car with the baby. The trip down and back home were both well received. Limited fussiness--which was most appreciated! We were even able to listen to our book on CD which helped us pass the time. I still can't fathom why our friends didn't want to drive down with us :-)
Our attempt at the standard family beach picture.
Thanks Pam for being our photographer in residence!
Sam is just happy to have someone he can cling to out in the open water.
He really is a sweet baby if I do say so myself!
Sam's first experience with the sand and ocean water wasn't overly positive.
He warmed up to the ocean after a while.

He just gets cuter and cuter. I'm glad mother nature was kind to you!
Looks like you had a great time! I think going on vacation with a baby is much easier than going with a toddler. Just wait until next summer! I love the crazy hair pic!
He is adorable! Glad to hear the trip went well. It looks like you all had a great time.
Love,
Susan
