As you can imagine, working from home with a 16 month old in tow is becoming increasingly difficult. Luckily, he is still taking 2 naps a day (on our normal days at home anyway). It's during those naps and early mornings before Sam gets up that I'm able to get the bulk of my work and phone calls taken care of.
I thought it would be fun to chronicle Sam's typical work day with his mommy:
8:00 Up and at'em!
He is really a great sleeper. Down at 8:00 and back up around 8:00 the next morning. We have been truly blessed that he does as well as he does when it comes to getting his rest.
Time for breakfast.
Any time Sam gets to eat is a great time in his mind! The one thing...as soon as he is in his chair, he EXPECTS to be fed RIGHT THEN. He gets really antsy if there is nothing in front of him to dig in.
This was his "man of leisure" day. Eating yogurt in his bathrobe. This kid has it made!!
Clean up.
Sam has become increasingly "helpful" the past couple of weeks. He loves to throw trash away. 9 times out of 10, the trash remains where it should be.
He even puts his milk away...
Time to WORK
Most of the time, you can find Sam sitting in my lap watching Sesame Street podcasts on one computer as I actually work on another. That has it's benefits. He sits patiently (maybe he has learned that from all the hockey games he has to sit through with us) and watches intently. Any time he sees the Count Von Count, he lets out this "Ah, Ah, Ah" sound. It is pretty cute.
Otherwise, he is wondering through the office picking up one of dozens of books and bringing it to me wanting to "read." He also has a new fascination with telephones. He will hold the phone up to his ear, jabber for a little while and then start laughing like he said something REALLY funny. Now, if we could only get him to do this when his grandma or grandpa is on the other end of the phone....that would be great!
I've had this desk ever since I was a little girl. My great uncle Hershell made it for me. It had been sitting in the guest bedroom unused for I don't know how long. I decided it was time to break it out for my little one. This way, Sam has his OWN PLACE to sit, answer the phone and color.
NAP TIME!!!
(time for mommy to get some serious work done & actually answer the phone)
Lunch Time
I love lunch time....this is the time of the day when our dog, Bella, decides to beg uncontrollably for Sam's food. (it's not like we never feed her)
More Play Time
(i.e. Sesame Street, books, etc.)
NAP TIME!!!
Snack Time
Daddy's Home!!!!!
Sam loves it when his daddy gets home. He hears the garage door and either goes to the top of the steps to await his dad or looks up at me and gives me a great big smile because he knows something is about to happen. As soon as he sees Chris, the running into the arms ensues and they have their own routine mapped out.
That ends Sam's typical work day with his mommy. As you can see, he works very hard during the day and keeps his mommy on her toes to say the least!

I can so identify with this post after working two days per week from home until Will was 23 months and Soph was born! I loved working from home with him the first year, but the second year got really challenging, especially once he was down to one nap. We didn't have dueling computer and Sesame Street podcasts, though, and it looks like those things are a big help!
Can't believe how big he is! Love the picture of him at his little desk. And doesn't it just warm your heart to see your little boy run to his daddy's arms? Thank God for good daddies!
The picture of him behind the desk is so cute! That was a good idea for you to do a post about his typical day! Sounds like he is a good sleeper. What a blessing!
