The BIG Snow of 2010

This is the first big snow that I can remember in a LONG time that has accumulated to anything worthy of going out and playing in. For those of you who know me well, it takes A LOT for me to go outside in the freezing cold for any reason. I figured Sam was the most excellent reason of all. We had so much fun and I'm so glad Chris has been here to experience a few of Sam's firsts!

Sam has seen the snow....just not a lot of it:

February 2008 (at about 3 months old)

This was our measurement of one of our "snows" January 2009. Just sad.

The very first priority of any accumulation of snow is to make snow cream. This year was no exception. At time of writing this, we have had lots and lots of snow cream! Here is my obligatory picture of my wonderful husband going outside in the freezing weather to gather enough snow to make his tasty creation.

After Sam's nap, we figured there was enough snow on the ground to warrant getting bundled up and heading outside. Getting at two year old dressed to go outside for an extended period isn't a lot of fun. However, the end result is.

Chris teaching Sam how to build a snowball.

Chris making a snow angel. I did get in on the action, but my angel didn't turn out as good as his did (thus no picture of yours truly).

Sam was impressed "angel."

Not too bad for his first attempt. He definitely got the hang of moving his legs back and forth. His arms were another story altogether.

Sam didn't have enough weight to keep all the snow from accumulating on the bottom of his boots. The poor boy nearly fell over several times out in the actual snow because of this factor.

Time to go in. I think Sam would have stayed MUCH, MUCH longer if we hadn't forced him in. He loves the snow and playing in it!
